SAUDADE — a portuguese word that infers a deep emotional state of longing, nostalgia, and melancholy for something or someone that is absent, distant, or lost. It's a bittersweet feeling as it scopes a mix of sadness and sweetness, reflecting both the pain of missing something and the joy of having experienced it. It's a feeling that lingers, sometimes comforting, sometimes aching, but always profound. This is what I feel when I work with my personal familiar archives, which have assisted me throughout my Senior Thesis work, that portray three critical different spaces for me. The architecture of these spaces references countless moments, moments that I enlace with emotion to translate SAUDADE.
